The recently released fantasy-themed ARPG Gothic Classic on the Nintendo Switch has received its first patch, courtesy of THQ Nordic and Piranha Bytes. This patch aims to address various issues and improve the overall gameplay experience for players. Let’s take a look at some of the fixes mentioned:

Fixing Bugs and Glitches

One of the main areas of focus for the patch was fixing bugs and glitches in the game. Issues like Black Goblins not moving, NPCs floating or walking in the air, and script-related problems have been resolved. Additionally, the Nameless One no longer loses his weapon if defeated, and looting stacked items is now fixed.

Improved User Interface

The user interface (UI) has also received attention in this update. Item scale and field of view (FOV) have been adjusted to ensure rings are correctly displayed in the inventory. The map menu now shows map images correctly, and trading has been fixed to eliminate rounding errors and incorrect behavior. Characters no longer get stuck running on tables, providing a smoother gameplay experience.

Apart from the bug fixes, the developers have implemented several improvements to enhance the game even further. Let’s delve into some of these enhancements:

Completing Quests and Progressing

The Chromanin quest, which was previously unable to be completed, can now be finished successfully. This improvement allows players to fully enjoy the storyline and progress in the game. Additionally, quest-related issues with characters like Lester, Diego, and Thorus have been addressed, preventing any quest blockers and ensuring a seamless gameplay experience.

Visual and Gameplay Enhancements

The developers have also made visual and gameplay enhancements to Gothic Classic. The spell title is now displayed at the top of the Magic circle UI, improving accessibility and providing quick information. Field of view has been improved for widescreen resolutions, catering to different player preferences. Localization corrections have been made, ensuring a more accurate translation of the game’s content.

New Features and Actions

The patch introduces new features and actions to enhance gameplay mechanics. Dialog windows have been corrected and scaled correctly, allowing for a more immersive and visually pleasing dialogue experience. A new map design and focus have been added, providing players with a fresh perspective and exploration opportunities. Furthermore, players can now throw items through the implemented “Throw item” action in the inventory, adding an additional layer of interaction.

As a bonus, THQ Nordic has announced that the sequel to Gothic Classic, Gothic II, will be coming to the Switch in November. This news further expands the fantasy ARPG franchise on the platform, giving players more options for their gaming experience.

If you haven’t had the chance to try out Gothic Classic on the Switch, now is the perfect time to dive into this immersive fantasy world. With the latest patch addressing various fixes and improvements, you can expect a smoother and more enjoyable gameplay experience. So grab your controller, sharpen your sword, and embark on an epic adventure!
