Baldur’s Gate 3, developed by Larian Studios, recently released its first patch, which fixed over a thousand bugs. However, the developers have made it clear that they are not done yet. In a post on Steam, Larian outlined their future plans for updates. These plans include further performance improvements, a new Karlach epilogue, and more bug fixes.

One of the key improvements that players can expect with the upcoming patch is enhanced performance in Act 3. Larian acknowledges that Act 3’s performance is not on par with the first two acts and assures players that Patch 2 will address this issue. The update promises significant performance enhancements throughout the entire game, with a specific focus on Act 3.

In addition to performance improvements, Larian is committed to eliminating major bugs, especially those that affect the experience in Act 3. Larian acknowledges the frustration that players feel when bugs spoil their gameplay. They are actively working on further eliminating these issues in Patch 2.

The Controversy of Cut Content

Another topic addressed in the post is what the community refers to as “cut content.” Larian clarifies that sometimes the content is not intentionally cut but rather fails to trigger due to bugs. They assure players that any such missing content will be fixed in future updates.

Furthermore, Larian explains that some content was intentionally removed from the game’s epilogue because they did not believe it lived up to their standards. They openly admit that not everyone shares their perspective on these decisions. In response to feedback, Larian plans to expand the epilogue with Patch 2, starting with a new optional ending featuring Karlach. This ending promises to be fiery, poignant, and provide Karlach with the ending she deserves.

Apart from addressing performance and content-related issues, Larian is also working on introducing new features. One such feature is the ability to remove co-op party members who join your campaign. This addition will give players more control over their party composition and enhance their overall experience.

Additionally, Larian plans to implement a feature that allows players to change their characters’ appearance even after starting a campaign. Although the release date for this feature has not been confirmed yet, its inclusion demonstrates Larian’s commitment to continuously improve Baldur’s Gate 3 and provide players with more flexibility in shaping their character’s visuals.

With Patch 2 and future updates, Larian Studios proves their dedication to refining and expanding Baldur’s Gate 3. Their focus on performance improvements, bug fixes, and content enhancements showcases their commitment to delivering an exceptional gaming experience for players. As the development progresses, these updates will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing success and enjoyment of one of the most highly anticipated role-playing games of recent years. Players can look forward to the continued growth and improvement of Baldur’s Gate 3 as Larian continues to listen to feedback and implement changes that enhance the overall gameplay.
