Opera has introduced Opera One, a new version of its browser that features an AI-powered chatbot called Aria. Aria is similar to the Bing chatbot on Microsoft Edge and is located in the browser’s sidebar. It can answer questions using real-time information, generate text or code, brainstorm ideas and more. The chatbot is powered by Opera’s Composer AI engine and connects to OpenAI’s GPT model.
Features
Aria can be accessed by clicking on the Aria icon on the left side of the screen. Unlike Bing on Edge, Aria can be accessed without opening up the sidebar. Aria has a command line-like overlay where users can type in a question or prompt. Additionally, Aria can translate highlighted text on a webpage, explain it, or find related topics on the web. While Aria can do almost everything that the Bing chatbot can, it still does not stack up to the Edge assistant. Aria lacks a menu system that lets users quickly select a conversation style when asking questions and does not present any one-click options that let users choose the tone, format, and length of the text they wish to generate. However, users can still tweak Aria’s responses manually.
Upgrades
Opera One comes with a few additional upgrades. There are new “tab islands” that automatically group related tabs together based on their context, along with a new design and an upgraded browser architecture. Opera One is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Opera tested the revamped version of the browser in May, and now it is available to everyone who downloads it. It is necessary to sign up for an Opera account to use the tool if the user does not already have one.
