The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has finally arrived, and it’s been a long-awaited sequel to the 2017 game, Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Breath of the Wild changed the Zelda formula to focus more on exploration and curiosity, allowing players to explore the vast land of Hyrule at their own pace. Now, Tears of the Kingdom offers players a similar experience, with a massive story, plenty of side quests, adventures, and secrets to uncover.
Players have the freedom to approach combat and exploration however they wish, which means that play times will vary. For example, some players will want to explore every inch of a new region and conquer all the Shrines, while others will run straight towards their next story objective. Even for those who focus on the story, they will still need to farm for resources or equipment, and on average, it will take around 50 hours to complete the story. However, this estimate can vary greatly.
For those who enjoy exploring and completing a decent number of Shrines and side quests, they can expect a longer playthrough of around 65-75 hours. This includes the main story and some of the optional content, but not all of it. The game is so vast that it’s hard to tell how long a completionist playthrough would take, but it’s estimated to take well over 100 hours.
Aside from finding and completing all the Shrine challenges, there are other activities that will take up your time. These include side quests to help the people you meet, exploring the Sky Islands and underground areas, and finding the elusive Korok seeds to expand your inventory. Additionally, players can spend lots of time tinkering with their Ultrahand building designs or testing different Fuse abilities with their weapons.
According to GameSpot’s 10/10 review of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the time spent exploring this vast world will be well worth it. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom offers players an exciting adventure filled with exploration, combat, and discovery.
